NGP and 3DS Predictions

I’m sure you’ve heard about the Nintendo 3DS, and the Sony NGP. If not, read the next paragraph:

The Nintendo 3DS is Nintendo’s next big handheld, which touts improved graphical power, and the ability to display 3D images without the need for special glasses.
The Sony NGP is the successor to the PSP. Not much is known about the system at the moment, but it is rumoured that it can display visuals on par with the PS3.

Ok, here’s my prediction. With the DS and PSP, it was the cheap handheld with a touch screen, (Ooh!) two screens and a great game line up. Very casual friendly, but not very powerful. The PSP is a beast when compared to the DS, with graphics comparable to the PSX (Which I’m going to call the PS1 from now on, ok?!).

Now we are at the end of both systems life span, and its pretty damn safe to say that the DS is the winner of the handheld battle. We are now starting the next gen of handhelds, and it looks like the same thing is going to happen again. Nintendo enters the competition with something that’s never been done before, and more power than their last system. Sony once again dwarfs the 3DS’s power, and attempts to make up for lost ground with their NGP. The NGP will no doubt cost big bucks, and sell tiny numbers when compared to the 3DS.

It seems as though once again, Sony is dragging behind the competition.
